Targets

Inexpensive in purchasing and management

OilKiller is designed and built in the most simple, linear and rational way than possible, with everything and only what is needed to do the job for which it is targeted. It's a robust assembly of autonomous subsystems. Breakdowns and breakages are practically impossible.

Easy

A single operator, without particular specializations, is enough to pilot it and perform all the functions.

Catamaran

The absence of a bow avoids turbulences and splitting of the water surface. Subsystems for the performances are installed under the boat's deck between the hulls where the water flow arrives undisturbed.

Just the energy to navigate

The only energy required for the performances is the one employed to navigate; there are no pumps, tanks or other complications; does not use chemicals, thickeners and/or dispersant.

Always a clean job

The OilKiller and its operator never get dirty. It intercepts and collects the water's top with what floats on it; stores pollutants directly in filters or bags; it doesn't embark water-oil mixtures neither rubbish.

Transportable

The OilKiller has been sized to be transported or delivered by a lorry or inside a container.

OilKiller Measures

The OilKiller weight range is between 1330 and 1850 kg circa, depending on the assembly.
The hulls are hinged to the main castle and driven by four hydraulic pistons.
The commands are given via radio control with the boat suspended by a crane during hauling or launching.

OilKiller Performances

Extraction of oily pollutants

Up to 25 liters for each filter refill, depending on the required equipment.
Our tests in field have been carried both with oleophilic elements in graphene and polypropylene
Our rating allow us to say that at least 70% of the intercepted pollutant is captured by the filters.
The lower the working speed (1 - 2 knots) the higher the efficiency of the reclamation operation.
The maximum working speed is 3 knots with around 50% yield.
The spare parts of the filters do not create any dependence on TJP as they can very well be packaged by the end user with materials easily available on the free market.

Solid waste and plastic extraction

Up to a volume of approximately 150 liters, about 1/7 of a m³, for each work cycle before emptying the bag.
The quantity in kg depends on the shape of the waste and the quantity of water that fills or imbibes them.
The time required to fill the bag depends on the density and thickness of the blanket.
The standard sieve mesh has 10 mm mesh but can be sized differently depending on the requirements.
The inlet mouth of the bag measures 640x250 mm and determines the maximum dimensions of the objects that can be intercepted.
Also in this case, dependencies with TJP are not created for the supply, however possible, of sieve bags that can be made by the end user with materials easily available on the free market.

Water healthiness data

The data to be collected depend on the cataloging requirements, typically: temperature, pH, oxygen, clarity, salinity, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, polyphosphates, heavy metal ions, pathogenic microorganisms, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, hydrocarbons, etc.
The control units are set up according to the requests of the end user, in collaboration with the University of Verona and the Intcatch project.
The collected data are transferred via wifi to a cloud archive and then managed by a software that allows storing, consultation and sorting.

Microparticles measurements or extraction

The function is carried out, in the first centimeters of the water column, by adopting sieving nets for plankton and microplastics complying with ISPRA methods.
The filtering net is woven in mono-filament Nytal® and has a porosity of 335 µm.
The collected sample is held up to a maximum volume of 300 ml.

Working speed

For all the above mentioned performances and to obtain the best results and efficiency the maximum recommended speed is 2 knots.

OilKiller SubSystems

Main Castle

The castle is the main structure that hold together the whole boat. Inside it there is the needed room to guest different disposals such as the hydraulic control unit, diesel engine or the battery pack etc.

Hulls

Each hull is made in two parts: the front unsinkable part jointed to the castle by hinges and hydraulic cylinders; the stern part is designed to guest echo, log speedometer, hydraulic turbines, water analysis unit etc.

TJP Train

The train perform the interception end treatment of the water surface. It's an autonomous system jointed to the castle by screws. It can be settled up in different main boat, such as a pontoon.

Honda

This is the standard setup for public and private waters.
The power is provided by two Honda BF10 outboards and the needed tools and controls.
Can be equipped with:

Electric

Torqeedo/Huracan

This is the green setup for ecological and natural reserves waters.
The power is provided by electric batteries and two Torqeedo outboards or two Huracan inboards with all the needed tools and controls.

control unit for water analysis
microparticles filtration system
oxygenation system
The systems are interchangeable on the same boat.

Diesel

Vetus Hydraulic

This is the anti detonation setup for areas at risk of explosions or fire such as refineries, oil terminals and coastal depots.
The power is provided by a diesel Vetus engine and hydrodynamics turbines with all the needed tools and controls.
Can be equipped with:
oleophilic filtration system
solids collection system
control unit for water analysis
microparticles filtration system
oxygenation system
The systems are interchangeable on the same boat.
