Targets

Inexpensive in purchasing and management

OilKiller is designed and built in the most simple, linear and rational way. It's armed with everything what is needed to do the job for which it is targeted. It's a robust assembly of autonomous subsystems. Everything is made to avoid breakdowns and breakages.

Easy

A single operator, without particular specializations, is enough to pilot it and perform all the functions.

Catamaran

The absence of a bow avoids turbulences and splitting of the water surface. Subsystems for the performances are installed under the boat's deck between the hulls where the water flow arrives undisturbed.

Just the energy to navigate

The only required energy is the one to navigate; there are no pumps, tanks or other complications neither chemicals, thickeners and/or dispersant.

Always a clean job

The OilKiller and its operator never get dirty. OilKiller stores the pollutants directly in filters or bags; it doesn't embark water-oil mixtures neither rubbish.

Transportable

The OilKiller, thanks to the refoldable hulls, falls within the transportable limit shape on the flatbed of a standard lorry or can be placed inside a container.

Dimensions

OilKiller's weight range is between about 1300 and 2000 kg, depending on the customization.
The hulls are hinged to the main body and driven by four hydraulic pistons.
The hydraulic commands are given via radio control while the boat is suspended in hauling or launching operations.

Performances

Removing oily pollutants

Up to 25 liters for each filter refill.
Different oleophilic filters can be used, for example graphene or polypropylene.
Up to 70% of the intercepted pollutant can be captured by the filters.
The lower the working speed (1 - 2 knots) the higher the efficiency of the reclamation operation.
The filters spare parts can be purchased from TJP but they can also be directly packaged by the end user.

Removal of floating garbage and plastics

Up to a volume of approximately 150 liters, about 0,15 m³, for each work cycle to fill the sieve-bag.
The weight in kg depends on the waste type and its ability to retain water.
10 mm is the standard sieve mesh; different sizes are available depending on the requirements.
The inlet mouth of the bag measures 640x250 mm and determines the maximum dimensions of the objects that can be intercepted.
The sieve-bags can be purchased from TJP but they can also be directly packaged by the end user.

Water analysis

The laboratory targets define the data to be collected, such as temperature, pH, oxygen, clarity, salinity, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates, polyphosphates, heavy metal ions, pathogenic microorganisms, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, hydrocarbons, etc.
The control units are set up according to the requests of the end user, in collaboration with the University of Verona and the Intcatch project.
The collected data is via wifi sent to a "cloud" archive to be then made available by a dedicated software for consultations, processing and different save folders.

Microparticles and plankton sampling

The function is carried out with the installation of certified sampling nets for plankton and microplastics.
The standard nets are woven with continuous Nytal® yarn; they have a 335 µm porosity and hold at the stern a 300 ml volume storage cup.
The OilKiller's standard set-up provides about one meter deep draft; with special customized set-up it's possible to exceed 5 sinking meters.

Speed

In the transfer routes, the Honda engines 20 hp push the OilKiller up to 9 knots; for the best results in all work performances the maximum recommended speed is 2 knots.

SubSystems

Castle

The castle is the main structure that holds together the whole boat and into the it's inside there is the needed room to guest different devices and goods.

Hulls

Each hull is the assembling of two parts: the front unsinkable part is hinged to the castle and hydraulically driven, the stern part is designed to have room to install different devices such as: the echo sounder, log speedometer, water analysis unit etc. The stern sections of the hulls are also designed to avaible the needed room to instal hydraulic turbines or electrical pods in case of Oilkiller's alternative motorizations.

Train

The train is the subsystem that makes the OilKiller performances possible. It's an hydraulically controlled levers system that holds the needed tool and sink or haul it. It's an autonomous system fixed to the castle by screws. It could be purchased by itself to be settled up in other catamaran, such as a pontoon.

Gasoline

Standard setup for public and private waters.
The power is provided by two Honda BF10 outboards.

Electric

Green setup for ecological and natural reserves.
The power is provided by Torqeedo batteries and twins outboards or two Huracan inboards installed into the hulls.

Diesel

Anti detonation setup for areas at risk of explosions or fire such as refineries, oil terminals and coastal depots.
The power is provided by a Vetus diesel engine and two hydrodynamics turbines installed into the hulls.
